Brown Bag Session
Date: 12:30 | 26-05-2026
Location: Pantry 19th Floor Erasmus Building
Kyra presents on AI-enabled surveillance capitalism through four case studies. The presentation begins with an explanation of surveillance capitalism, a concept introduced in 2015 that focuses on the collection and monetization of personal data. It then explores how generative AI is intensifying these dynamics in today’s digital landscape. The case studies include concrete examples such as Clearview AI and Meta smart glasses, illustrating current developments and implications. These examples are intended to stimulate discussion, even for audiences already familiar with the topic. The content is grounded in academic research and is also taught within a master’s level course.
